Abbeyfield’s core mandate is to provide affordable accommodation and companionship for lonely elders within their local community. Abbeyfield Houses are small, family-style residents that offer a healthy, affordable option for independent seniors who wish to stay in their community, but don’t want to live alone. Abbeyfield living cures loneliness. This is achieved by building or converting and maintaining houses where a small group of residents typically live together with a house manager. Rooms are private, but housekeeping and meals are provided by a small staff in the common living space.
Abbeyfield is an inclusive charity that provides affordable housing and companionship in small, shared homes for lonely independent seniors.
Each home is supported by a volunteer board and small staff that provides nutritious meals, housekeeping and good company
Proceeds from this 50/50 will be directed towards the support services provided by Abbeyfield that enable seniors residing in their locations throughout Ontario to thrive.
The winner will be contacted to claim their prize.

We at Abbeyfield in Durham where thrilled to learn that we would be receiving a generous financial gift from The Frank Milne Foundation to put towards paying down the principal on our mortgage.
It is through gifts such as this that allow us here at Abbeyfield to focus our ensuring that we provide the best possible living environment for the active seniors that choose to call Abbeyfield Durham home.
What a fun afternoon decorating for fall/Thanksgiving. We choose to decorate using pumpkins instead of trying to carve our pumpkins. Fred, Vivike and Marion had a great time making bows, organizing little gourds and trying to get 3 pumpkins to sit balanced on top of each other. The House parent, Sarah, had corn stalks delivered to Abbeyfield from a local farmers field. We were excited to measure the stalks at over 10′ tall!
